After a fierce battle through a 128 bracket competition, the top 12 North American teams have been decided!
Here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 VCT Stage 2 - Challengers NA - Main Event.
The Challengers NA - Main Event kicks off a month of fierce VALORANT competition on May 13. The teams will be split into two groups of six teams, with three match days per week for five weeks.
All matches are a best-of-three format and the top eight teams will advance to the playoffs.
The 12 qualified teams join us from three different pools: The top four North American teams from Stage 1 — The Guard, OpTic Gaming, Cloud9 and XSET — who received direct invitations to the Main Event, four teams qualified through Open Qualifier #1, and four teams qualified through Open Qualifier #2.
These 12 teams have been split into two groups of six via a group draw conducted in front of each participating organization’s representatives. Teams were then split into pools based on how they qualified, with byes taking top priority, followed by OQ #1 Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket, then OQ #2 Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket.
Matches will take place every Friday through Sunday for the duration of the Main Event and are scheduled to begin at 1 PM PST.
GROUP A
GROUP B
Playoffs begin on June 16 and will feature the top eight teams squaring off in a modified double-elimination bracket.
The Stage 2 Playoffs begin with the #1 seed from each qualifying group receiving a bye to the second round of the Upper Bracket. The #4 seed from each group will begin their playoff run in the Lower Bracket. The #2 seed from each group will face the #3 seeds from the opposing group to determine who will move forward in the Upper Bracket and who will drop to the Lower Bracket.
Matches will be played for two weeks and are a best-of-three format until the Upper Finals, Lower Finals, and Grand Finals, which will all be best-of-five.
The top two North American teams will face off in the Grand Finals on June 26 to determine who will reign supreme!
