Last year we shared that Challengers will culminate in the three Ascension tournaments that will promote three teams for the 2024 season! Promoted teams will have the opportunity to prove themselves within the International Leagues during the VCT season, receive similar league benefits, and an equal chance to qualify into Masters and Champions. Today we are excited to share that all three Ascension Tournaments will conclude on LAN and in front of live audiences.
Immediately after the conclusion of Masters, three Challengers Ascension tournaments will kick off, featuring the best teams from within the Pacific, EMEA, and Americas regions. More than twenty Challengers Leagues have been underway across the world in 2023, narrowing down hundreds of teams to the very best.
Challengers Ascension: PACIFIC
This event will bring VALORANT Esports to Bangkok, Thailand, where all 10 days of competition will take place in front of a live studio audience.
In the PACIFIC region, each of the 10 Challenger leagues will qualify a single team into the Ascension Tournament. 10 teams will be sorted into 2 groups that will compete through a Single Round Robin competition featuring Best-of-Three matches. The top 3 teams from each group will advance into the playoffs, which will take place in Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). The top 2 teams from the Group Stage will earn byes into the Semifinals, while the other 4 teams will begin the Quarterfinals.
The Single Elimination Playoff bracket will feature Best-of-Three matches in the early rounds and a Best-of-Five Grand Final.
Challengers Ascension: EMEA
Ascension EMEA will feature 10 teams; 9 who will earn their spot by winning their respective EMEA Challengers Leagues and a final team through the Play-In Tournament. Competition will begin with an online Group Stage that will narrow the field down to 4 teams. The Group Stage will be a Single Round Robin Tournament where top 2 teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs. The Playoffs will take place at the VCT EMEA Coliseum in Berlin, and will feature a Single Elimination Bracket with a Best-of-Five finals.
Challengers Ascension: AMERICAS
In the Americas, Ascension will feature 6 teams; 2 from the Challenger Leagues of Brazil and North America, 1 team from LATAM South, and 1 team from LATAM North. All participating teams will compete in São Paulo, Brazil, in two different locations. Competition will begin at the VALORANT Brazil studio. The conclusion of the event will take place in front of a live audience, with additional news about the venue coming soon. We’re excited to share that the matches that decide which team advances into VCT Americas for 2024 will be viewable both online and in-person!
Qualified teams will be sorted into 2 groups of 3 teams. The Group Stage will consist of a Single Round Robin that will seed every team into the Double Elimination Playoff bracket. All teams will start in the Upper Bracket, the top 2 teams will earn a bye and begin in the second round, while the remaining 4 teams will begin in the first round. The Grand Finals will be Best-of-Five, while all matches in the Playoffs will be Best-of-Three.
