Last year, we kicked off VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Game Changers in North America with an eye on facilitating access and elevating exposure for underrepresented groups within the VALORANT community. The inaugural slate of 2021 tournaments were hugely successful, and we’re ready to keep that momentum going.
2022 will feature a full schedule of Game Changers community events and upper division tournaments — setting the stage for hungry challengers to upend Cloud9 White’s regional domination. With Game Changers’ first ever international tournament on the horizon, who will emerge as the class of North America? Because if you’re coming for the queens, you best not miss.
Here’s everything you need to know about Verizon VCT Game Changers North America Series 1.
The Verizon VCT Game Changers North America Series 1 begins with a 32-team Open Qualifier that runs from March 31 to April 3. Teams will battle in a five-round swiss elimination format, with initial seeding determined by several factors, including previous Verizon VCT Game Changers performance and recent community competition results. The Top 16 will advance to a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket. The upper bracket will conclude after two rounds (four teams remaining), with the lower bracket determining the final four of the Top 8 teams. All players must be verified members of the Galorants Discord Community, in addition to registering for the competition through Nerd Street Gamers.
The Top 8 teams from the Open Qualifier will advance to the Main Event, a double-elimination bracket beginning on April 6. All matches will be best-of-three until the Final on April 9, which will be a best-of-five. Teams will compete for a share of the $50,000 prize pool and earn valuable points for Game Changers World Championship qualification.
There will be a total of 410 points available for the top 16 placed teams throughout each Verizon VCT Game Changer Series. Point distribution will be as follows:
